Personal Health Technology

Jordan Sennett, M.D.
Personal health technology refers to medical apps and devices that enable individuals to monitor their health and are electronically connected to their physician. An example is a digital blood pressure machine that can be used at home and which sends results to a physician. There are now many other types of devices that can monitor health related information and metrics including but not limited to body temperature, pulse, activity, body composition, EKG, lung function, glucose, urinalysis, fertility, and sleep. These devices are often relatively inexpensive and user friendly. The promise of personal health technology is more accurate and timely health data,  improved communication with a healthcare professional, and lower cost.
