He is a physician who has learned from years of clinical practice that people’s health should not depend only on occasional clinic visits to the doctor, but should be continuously monitored by people themselves and communicated frequently to their doctor. Excellent clinical care should be a dialogue between patient and doctor that is informed by personal health information and expert medical management.
A good example of this is diabetes. People who take diabetes medication to control their blood sugar should test their sugar frequently at home and report to the doctor when the sugar is too high or low so that their medication can be adjusted. Waiting several months to see the doctor will often not result in good diabetes control.
